75th Anniversary Gala
Dear Friend of the Vieux Carré Commission,
In 1936, the Vieux Carré Commission (VCC) was established in the Louisiana Constitution. Due to the great work of the VCC over the past 75 years, we have all been blessed to enjoy our treasured Vieux Carré neighborhood, preserved and protected. Today the Vieux Carré—widely acclaimed as one of America’s most important and historic neighborhoods—continues to be enjoyed by thousands of residents who live and work here permanently, as well as millions of annual visitors who add so much to our economy. The Vieux Carré truly represents the heart and soul of New Orleans; indeed, it is hard to imagine this city without its beloved “French Quarter”.
This fall, on November 2, 2011, the Vieux Carré Commission Foundation, the 501(c)(3) organization that supports the VCC, will celebrate and commemorate this historic 75th anniversary milestone. First, in partnership with the Louisiana State Museum, there will be a public commemoration ceremony held in the afternoon at the Cabildo to give everyone an opportunity to honor the VCC’s important work and purpose. This will be followed by an evening patron party and gala fundraiser at Antoine’s Restaurant, featuring food and beverages from a collection of the Vieux Carré’s most renowned restaurants. There will be an exciting line-up of music and entertainment, an auction of fantastic items, and other activities that together will result in a unique and memorable evening in the Vieux Carré.
